Please Join with Us

Quite a few posts ago I mentioned that our new for-profit business was in a tangle. That continues to be the case as registration has now been denied twice. We are looking at some other legal, but less than desirable, options for opening this business.

Now, we are facing the possible closure of our humanitarian work here due to a tangle on the US side. We have been told that we have until December to find another means of maintaining our presence here. So far, everything that our team has tried has turned into a dead end.

Unless one of these situations changes soon, it could mean that our team of 29 (including children), three other teams with our board of 11, and a few families representing other boards who depend on our humanitarian work for their visas, will lose the ability to remain here.

It is never a surprise--or shouldn't be--when people are responding to the Good News, that we face difficulties and opposition. We are at a point where we have seen more responsiveness and possibilities for new churches than we have seen in our four years in country, and we are praying that we will be able to continue on.

We, as a team, are asking for people to join us for a time of special prayer over the next few days. Here are some things you can pray:

*Quick registration for our new business
*An opening to continue some sort of humanitarian work
*Minimal loss of property (cars, computers, etc. that belong to our current humanitarian NGO
*Wisdom for all of those involved in decision making
*Spiritual insight for our teams: Ask that God would show us anything in our hearts that needs to be changed. We take seriously the fact that He often uses crises to get our attention and point out areas where we need to repent and grow.

We will be having a team-wide prayer meeting on August 15th, and we would greatly appreciate your prayer support. Would you consider setting aside a few minutes to lift up these requests on that day? Also, it would be a great encouragement to our team to know that people are praying for our situation and the work here. If you could post a short comment to let us know that you're joining us in prayer, I'll pass that along to the team.

We'll keep you posted as things develop, but remember that in this part of the world things can move incredibly slowly. :o)
