Growing Boys and Muslim Fashions

Every mother of teenage boys has experienced the stress of pants that "shrink". It seems like the hems of their jeans are perpetually about an inch too short. Yesterday Kevin had an experience that adds a whole new layer of stress. I had sent him to the store for some groceries, and while he was there the security guard stopped him and began asking him questions. When he realized that Kevin was American, he told him to be sure not to wear pants that length any more. The reason? He looked too much like a Wahabbi with his pants hem just above his ankles. Personally, I don't think a blond-headed teenager looks like a terrorist just because he outgrew his pants too quickly, but we'll pass the jeans along anyway to avoid any more encounters with security guards.
